"Bioluminescence" and "Under the Skin" Featured at SXSW

Two MDM-funded interactive media projects, "Bioluminescence" and "Under the Skin", are featured at the reputable South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Texas this year.

It will be the world premiere for "Bioluminescence", a VR experience by art director Abel Kohen. It plunges users into the mysterious world of the deep sea, where they stumble upon an extraterrestrial life form. The project was realized by IKO Films (France) and Leipzig-based Reynard Films, both as producers, and the multimedia agency Prefrontal Cortex from Halle on Saale, as both a producer and a contractor.

The presentation of the VR documentary "Under the Skin" by João Inada constitutes its North American premiere. It takes the viewer into one of the largest slums of Rio de Janeiro. The project, which was co-produced by Blackboardfilms GmbH & Co.KG, has previously been presented at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), which took place in November.

South by Southwest has been an annual event in Austin, Texas since 1987. It lasts 10 days and combines several festivals, conferences, and industry exhibitions in the fields of music, film, and interactive media.
