Three of the films that were supported with funds from Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung GmbH (MDM) have been selected for the program of this year’s Berlin International Film Festival (Feb 10-20, 2011). The Panorama section will feature “Khodorkovsky” by Cyril Tuschi, a documentary on the transformation of Mikhail Khodorkovsky – from a perfect socialist to a perfect capitalist and finally, in a Siberian prison, on his way to becoming a perfect martyr. Also in Panorama, Peter Dörfler will present his new documentary “The Big Eden” about Germany’s “last playboy”, Rolf Eden, a man who has invented himself sixty years ago. Perspektive Deutsches Kino is showing “The Prize” by Elke Hauck. The film tells the story of a young architect who returns to his East German hometown facing up to a closely guarded chapter in his life. Moreover, MDM is again official partner of the Berlinale Co-Production Market, which will take place Feb 13-15 at the Berlin House of Representatives. During the festival you can reach MDM at the European Film Market in the Martin-Gropius-Bau at the stand of Focus Germany, the umbrella organisation of German film funding organisations.
