The search for old Erasmus friends, about whom he has known little since
the tum of the millennium, serves as a motif for traversing the existential
crisis and expectations that Filipe shares with the European project - a
youthful ideal alongside which he experienced the euphoria, promises
and achievements of reaching adulthood, and with which he now shares,
half a lifetime later, the uncertainties and fears about the future. Anxieties
that will lead him to venture on a physical and inner journey through a
Europe once again in crisis and threatened by war.
